Consultant Biography

Mr Simon Choong

Mr Simon Choong undertook his medical school and postgraduate urological training at University College Hospital, London. He was appointed to lead the stone and endourology unit at University College London Hospitals in 2002. The unit manages complex urinary tract stones and provides minimally invasive management of upper urinary tract transitional cell tumors, pelviureteric junction obstruction, complex ureteric strictures and kidney obstruction.

Mr Simon Choong carries out paediatric stone surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for children and runs national and international masterclasses in stones and endourological management. He was awarded a Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000 and the BAUS / BJU International Travelling Fellowship in 2001.

Mr Choong forms part of London Urology at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth.

To ask a question, make an enquiry or book an appointment, contact our specialist team who are available Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm. Our London Urology team have a dedicated and caring approach and will seek to find you the earliest appointment possible with the correct specialist for your needs.

 If you are self-paying you don’t need a referral from your GP. You can simply refer yourself and book an appointment.

If you have medical insurance (e.g. Bupa, Axa PPP, Aviva), you will need to contact your insurer to get authorisation for any treatment and, in most cases, you will require a referral letter from your GP.

If you do not have a GP, then we have an in-house private GP practice that you can use. Alternatively we can suggest the most appropriate course of action for you to take, given your location and individual circumstance.
